Set within the quiet landscape of Millbrook.
this timber-frame home called for both correction and refinement.
A previous renovation had removed a structural wall, leaving the roofline to slowly sag over time. The primary objective: restore structural integrity without compromising the character that made the home special.
A new support system
A new central beam was introduced to properly support the roof load — but rather than conceal the intervention, it became part of the architectural language. The beam was clad in custom-milled wood, stained to feel original to the home, as though it had always belonged within the timber frame structure.
The kitchen itself is grounded in materiality.
Custom Cabinetry
Custom cabinetry by Rex Hill Studio in blackened ash anchors the space with depth and texture. Handmade zellige tile forms the backsplash, carefully mitered around the window to create a seamless transition and honor the irregular beauty of the material. Soapstone countertops with an integrated sink provide quiet durability, while concealed outlets maintain visual clarity.
Unlacquered brass fixtures from deVOL Kitchens will patina over time, adding warmth and authenticity. Integrated appliances preserve clean lines and allow the materials to remain the focus.
A structural correction transformed into a defining architectural feature.
A kitchen rebuilt with intention — honest, grounded, and enduring.
